I made the switch to this detergent because of recurring skin sensitivity in my family, and it has made a significant difference. My main priority was finding a product without the dyes and perfumes that are common irritants, and this Tide formula fits the bill perfectly. It is completely fragrance-free and clear, which gives me confidence that we’re not exposing our skin to unnecessary chemicals. After several weeks of use, any issues with skin irritation have completely disappeared.
I was initially a bit concerned that a "gentle" detergent might not have the same cleaning power as traditional formulas, but those worries were unfounded. This detergent handles all of our regular laundry loads with ease, from everyday clothes to more soiled items. It works effectively in both warm and cold water washes and rinses out completely. I haven’t noticed any residue left on the fabrics, and our clothes come out feeling soft and genuinely clean.
This has become our household's standard detergent. It delivers a thorough clean without compromising on being gentle for those with sensitive skin. It simply does its job very well, providing peace of mind and clean laundry without any problems. It’s a straightforward and effective product that lives up to its name.

I have used tide most of my life and have lived the clean I get from the product and the over all smell is good as well, this product while eliminating all smell offers the same clean otherwise and I believe it is a little cheaper than the regular for people with skin allergies would recommend hands down, for people who do not have allergies that appreciate good smelling clothes I would stick to the original tide detergent

The product works and is great for sensitive skin and people with scent allergies it sensitivity.
On the other hand, the packaging and delivery be Amazon is atrocious. I came home to a leaking box that managed to get everywhere. When I opened it, I discovered an inch and a half of liquid and absolutely no packaging at all in the box, just the product with a broken lid. After a far too difficult exchange process where I was originally told to ship it back, I managwd to contact a representative that took 20 minutes for a 2 minute resolution and a new one was sent out the following day. The second package had some brown butcher paper for packaging, but was also damaged in transit and I discovered a small crack on the bottom, causing it to slowly leak. I do not recommend buying this from Amazon.

I love that this Tide Free & Gentle has in unscented and free of dyes, making it perfect for my grandson's and my sensitive skin. Previously, I had been using All's version, but, while I find All to be just as good for sensitive skin, Tide is slightly more effective when it comes to tough stains. Whites and colors both come out bright. Cold water washing is just as effective as warm.
My washing machine takes HE detergent only, and this Tide is indeed concentrated. Especially since I have a septic system, I need a detergent that is gentle. This checks all the boxes.

I have eczema, so scented detergents can really irritate my skin, especially with delicate clothing. Tide Free & Gentle works perfectly — no strong smells, no irritation, and my clothes come out clean.
I also love that it’s nationally recognized as safe for eczema-prone skin. Feels reassuring knowing I can wash my clothes without worrying about flare-ups. Highly recommend for anyone with sensitive skin!

Only detergent i use. Also use the sports laundry sanitizer by clorox. Haven't needed any other products but a stain remover that duplicates as a cleaning aid and a gentle detergent for delicate or special items. Very light scent. Good value and big bottle. Dissolves well in the water and doesn't stick to clothes. Easy to use.

I use this detergent faithfully. I have four kids and a UPS driving husband, I am washing frequently. I have good luck with stain removal - I always throw a little Borox and Arm and Hammer in every load to ensure good results. The bottle this comes in is easy to handle and a good size, I can easily handle the weight (I wouldn't want to at 70/80 years old). The detergent dissolves nicely and I never have any remains on my clothes.

We have to use detergent that is free of stuff, due to allergic reactions. This does not have a scent, and does not irritate our skin. We prefer Tide, because it still gets the stains out while also providing the free & clear that we need. We never have issues with leakage, the product always arrives sealed and leak free. The convenience of this just arriving at our door rather than having to go get it, is great!!

I never noticed how much fragrance bothered me until I consciously tried to get away from it. Everything from my sheets to my clothing has been overly perfumed and I have found that sleeping without unnecessary scents is actually more relaxing. This tide replaced my previous tide, and I have not noticed any difference in cleanliness, only that it does not affect the feel and cleanliness of my laundry. So far I'm really happy with this product and intend to continue to purchase it.

If you use the measuring cup and don't fully wash and remove all residue, then put it back it will leak all over the packaging. It's not really free...and i cannot analyze the gentleness % compared to a normal gentle baseline so the name is kinda misleading but it works. I’ve always loved how well Tide works, but my skin is super sensitive, so I switched to the Free & Gentle version — and it’s been perfect. It doesn’t have any strong fragrance or dyes, but it still gets my clothes just as clean as the original formula.
I use it for everything — clothes, towels, sheets — and haven’t had any issues with residue or irritation. It’s especially great if you’re washing things for kids or anyone with allergies or eczema.
The bottle is easy to pour, and a little goes a long way. Honestly, I don’t feel like I’m sacrificing anything by using a gentler option. Highly recommend if you want something powerful but safe on skin.

This has been a great detergent. I was using Tide Hygienic Clean Free & Clear and when it was discontinued I reluctantly bought this. It’s the same formula with one or two added ingredients that are supposed to be an improvement. I’ve been wet gappy with it. Would recommend.

This Tide has been very helpful with getting our clothes clean effectively, and efficiently while also being gentle on skin. The fragrance and dyes that are usually in detergents are absent, but all of the extra strength cleaning elements are still there. My daughter has sensitive skin, and eczema issues as well. This has been a wonderful replacement for the other Tide I was using before the skin sensitivity was as problematic as it is now. This product works well, is a great value for the money paid, and is accurate with the color/description of the product. The size of this is just right for my family and I to be able to have clean, fresh clothes for well over a month. I highly recommend this product!

This is the BEST laundry detergent. I dislike scented laundry on my clothing as it irritates my skin and the fragrances generally give me a headache. My clothes come out clean and fresh without a perfumed fragrance. I however DO NOT recommend the jumbo size with push to dispense spout; It makes an absolute mess and leaks everywhere after using. Otherwise this product is great, I’ll just stick to the classic sizes without the push button.

We've been a Tide house for a long time, and switched to their Free & Gentle detergents about 7 years ago as we've gravitated towards fewer fragrances in our home to accommodate migraine and other fragrance sensitivities. We've used this exclusively since and try to stock up when it is on sale.
It cleans very well - it's worth noting though, that my spouse and I work office jobs, have very active lifestyles, no kids, four cats with a lot of beds and blankets to clean - so the most soil it is tackling is sweat, grass stains on socks from mowing the lawn or gardening, cleaning rags, and the occasional messy pet blanket.
I love not having to pretreat, and I love that I can use this one product on ALL of our laundry. It saves me time and effort, and for where I am in life at the moment, that's ideal.

I have a lot of clothing that is very delicate, made of materials like wool and silk. I always hesitate to wash these items with regular detergent because of the dyes and scents. This is the first detergent that I've felt comfortable using on my gentle clothes. I also live with a few people who have sensitivities and allergies to dyes and scents. Fresh and Simple[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I love this detergent. It works well, it smells fresh and clean and it doesn’t irritate my skin at all. My clothes always come out of the dryer smelling clean without being overwhelmingly scented. I also really enjoy the gentleness of the formula.

Tide: A must buy detergentI was looking for a detergent that would be able to gently clean my clothes. It really cleaned the dirt and Reminence off. It mixed with the water well in the washing machine I followed all the instructions and my clothes came out, smelling and looking fresh.

Great for sensitive skin and doesn’t leave randomI switched to Tide free and gentle a year ago. I used to get random stains on my clothes when doing laundry, and since I switched over to this brand, my clothes are nice and clean, no more random stains on clothes, and the smell is gentle, great for sensitive skin!

It got rid of the dirt and odors in my laundry without leaving a heavy odor on my clean clothes. I’m allergic to many of the laundry detergent because of their scent and I have no issues with this product!

Cleans well[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I’ve been using Tide’s detergent for my last few washes and I like it. I find it cleans my clothes as well as my other loads, but it has no fragrance which I like for my sheets. My only downside is that the detergent smells like wet wood, but my clothes do not smell like that.

We noticed he would get a rash on his face if it touched items that weren’t washed with tide free and gentle. We’re definitely making the switch!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] A few years back i was told by a dermatologist that i was allergic to myself.... Regardless i had to switch to no scent and dye free detergents. I've tried multiple brands and tide free and gentle is one i use regularly. Because its free of dye's and scents the heavy rashes are no where near as bad. It cleans the clothes as it should.

No irritation on her precious baby skin. I also use it when I wash our dogs blankets, because she’s also apart of the family. The only thing I will say is that it’s not the greatest on heavy stains.

I had a tomato sauce stain on a pair of pants and it completely removed it ! Tide hit it out of the ballpark with this product !

Gentle and cleanI have been using this product since it was recommended by my family. I use it to wash my kids clothes. I am glad to have a detergent that is free of perfumes and dies. It's easy to dispense. Would definitely recommend it to others.

Especially in cold water. I have detected a chemical odor in some unscented products. That is not the case with Tide Pure and Gentle. I have found my new favorite detergent.

It gives a nice clean but you do have to use more than other detergents because it's not as strong. It neutralizes any odor on clothes, but it's scentless so don't expect to smell freshness after washing.

Very considerate labelingNothing to dislike about it! It’s a trusted brand of detergent and this version is completely fragrance free. The ingredients are listed perfectly in the back with the fictions (solvent, saponification agents). This is perfect for those with sensitive skin who prefer not to have unknown fragrances in their products!

I think for some clothes you do need the scented liquid tide for heavy odors. It was easy to pour and open nothing else wrong with it at all.

Although I do occasionally use scent beads in certain loads, I like the fact that there was no scent at all from the detergent. I absolutely have to use this detergent for everything. It is gentle on my family's skin and still cleans heavy items like my comforter and rugs. There is no scent so you can always add in fabric softeners and fragrance. I personally like to add in baking soda to strip any odors. I will always purchase this detergent because it works, plain and simple.

I usually buy the bigger version as it is much more money saving option. It works wonders on the kids stains, and never saw any rushes or allergies coming back after starting to use it. Fabrics are clean and conditioned. The product dissolves very well not leaving any strikes on clothes . Good concentration as small amount goes for very long period.

This detergent got my family’s clothing as clean as classic Tide but without any fragrance at all. I love that I can add my own scent by using different essential oils in the dryer rather than all of our clothing smelling exactly the same. While the price is not as low as a bargain detergent, the performance is MUCH better.

Changed formula caused hivesI have eczema, allergies, and psoriasis, so when I find something that works, I never change it. Earlier this year, I started to get more hives... but since it's hard to pinpoint what the factors are (could be the weather), I didn't raise any flags to the doctor. Once the summer hit, they got bad enough for the doctor to prescribe meds. They went away with the meds, but then came back. I went back to the doctor, and they suggested another med, but that caused me to wake up with my eyes nearly shut from being swollen. And because I hadn't changed anything in my routine, things were still a mystery. One day, I did laundry right before bed (instead of usually airing it out), and that's when I realized it was probably Tide after I woke up scratching with my skin flaming. It became clearer as I read stories on the web about other people's health issues caused by the new formula. I am now 3 weeks in with a new laundry detergent - didn't change anything else in my routine to make sure this was a controlled experiment - and everything is gone. Hives were on my arms, chest, neck, and groin area. They also activated psoriasis patches on my hands and fingers. Flakiness and rashes on my face and eyes. All gone. This cost me hundreds of dollars between doctor appointments, meds, and lotions. Despite the label, do not use this product if you have sensitive skin. Save your money, tears, stress, and anxiety.

Free of unnecessary dyesFree and Gentle is my favorite Tide, I have purchased it several times. It has a light fragrance, not over powering and still gets rid of stains better than any other brand. Caused horrible rashI don’t usually write negative reviews but we have had a terrible time with mysterious contact dermatitis rashes/ itching after using this product this past year. It helped me to read other reviews. Because we had used Tide Free and Gentle in the past, it was not our first go to when trying to find a reason for the problem. I’ve also happily used Tide products for something like 40 years! My husband has sensitive skin—developed horrible pruritic rash on his back particularly. Dr. put him on steroids. I washed and double rinsed all clothing, sheets, blankets etc. for the past six months. This helped only slightly. Then I started developing a rash on my back too. Never had that before in my life. Switched detergent. Washed everything. Amazing. Clothes smell better and my back is much better. Husband’s skin is slowly improving. I have several large bottles of Tide Free— (the downside of subscribe and save). I can give them away but afraid of causing problems for someone else. I get it, stuff happens, but hopefully you will understand there is a real issue and take steps to correct it or at least warn people.

Not gentle enough in liquid formThis is their gentle line for sensitive skin, but it contains sodium lauryl sulfate (SLS). That’s a surfactant that irritates skin, especially acne-prone skin. That’s why I can’t use the liquid version. At least the pods version has sodium laureth sulfate (SLES), which may still irritate the skin like SLS, but it’s a more gentler and milder version. If you suffer from acne, especially body acne, buy sulfate free, or at least SLS free. The powder version doesn’t have SLS

Best Tide varietyLet me start this by saying that I'm a laundry snob, and this is one of the best detergents I have ever used. This is one of the only detergents I trust for my family. Hives, horrible awful hives on my FACEGotta add my voice to the outcry of hives here, in the hopes that the company acknowledges that they messed up here. I've never in my life had such a horrible reaction to a product, and it took me weeks and weeks to figure it out. Why would I ever suspect a product that is supposed to be ok for sensitive skin? Multiple rounds of steroids later and I'm facing long term damage to the skin on my face because of this. It's appalling that companies are able to do this and get away with it. And no, I don't want to be told to call a soulless corporate phone number and condescended that this formula change doesn't cause this when there appears to be ample evidence to the contrary.

Not UnScentedI’ve used this product for years. I bought the 151 fluid ounce and there is something really wrong with it. I’ve trued to rinse my several times just to get the stench of it out. I have a very sensitive sense of smell and I opened it and thought wow this is stinky. And get my better judgment. I washed a load of clothes in it. Why did I do that? For sure something is wrong with this great big giant bottle and I have no receipt. So im stuck with it and I’m more than upset. Financially times are hard enough and this just makes it worse. There should be some type of seal on the caps. I don’t know what happened but it’s disgusting. I’m really upset about it. I’m on a fixed income and I really can’t afford any extra cost right now. This just made it worse..

Yellowing over timeI was hopeful this would work at keeping my clothes impecably clean (as my alternative is about twice the price) but after long term use on my white towels and linens, Tide free & gentle turned my clothes a hue of yellow, whereas my original brand keeps them white. Leaves sticky residueMakes your clothes sticky out of the wash. I use less than the recommended amount of detergent, but it will still leave a sticky residue on all of your laundry and is a nightmare on bath towels. Not as good as the previous formulation or fragrance free Hygienic CleanI want to give this 3 stars because at least there is still a fragrance free option. But Tide changed this Free and Gentle detergent’s ingredients a while back when they changed the bottle’s look, causing me and my family to have allergic reactions when we used the new formulation. I switched us to the fragrance free Hygienic Clean detergent from Tide, and it seemed to be the same as the regular Free and Gentle detergent used to be, but worked even better. They recently discontinued the fragrance free Hygienic Clean (leaving only the scented one), so now my family and I will be trying to find a different detergent that cleans as well, but without the hives and all. If trying this specific detergent, be aware of possible allergic reactions from the ingredients, even though it’s fragrance free.

Tide Free and Gentle Liquid Laundry Detergent is by far the best laundry detergent that I have ever used. I have super sensitive skin and I use this detergent for everything. From clothes, to towels, to dog beds, all of them get washed in this detergent. The packaging makes it easy to measure and cost is appropriate for the amount of loads you can wash. The laundry always comes out clean and the scent is not overwhelming.

Best detergent for sensitive skin!The detergent is very effective at getting everything I wash clean without dyes or perfumes that can irritate my skin. I’ve used this for decades and won’t buy anything else. The packing dispenses the detergent without any mess!

Safe for sensitive skinMy youngest kiddo has sensitive skin and this is the only detergent we use. There is no scent, and clothes come out smelling clean but scent free. The price is comparable to the other brands out there and you can usually find a coupon depending on the retailer.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I don't know why they decided to add benzisothiazolinone (BIT) to this, but now anyone who's allergic to this or the related methylisothiazolinone (MI) or methylchloroisothiazolinone (MCI) can't use it. I was lucky enough to catch it before I used it, otherwise I would have broken out in a rash. This is one more thing to add to the list of products I can't use.

I am covered from head to toe with a terrible skin rash. Waking up in the middle of the night scratching myself raw. My skin is torn to bits. I’ve been keeping a food diary for weeks, have undergone expensive allergy tests only to find out that I have no new allergies, but Tide has changed their formula without any warning. I’ve been using Tide my entire life. This is more than an upset. It’s an outrage.

Great productI tried this product for free in exchange for my honest opinion. This Up & Up Baby Laundry Detergent for my little one's clothes, and I couldn't be more pleased with the results! As a parent, it's important to me to find products that are gentle yet effective, and this detergent hits the mark perfectly. This laundry detergent has a pleasant smell and effectively removes stains from clothes. This detergent is really gentle on skin, especially sensitive ones. Highly recommended.

Works wellI will only use clear tide! I switch between this and Arm Hammer, but I think this one works better. It's a little pricey, but lasts long when ypu only use the amount your supposed to. The packaging is tall and sleek, so it fits well in my cabinet.

Formula change gave me a horrible rashI have sensitive skin. I don’t think you (the company, not the unfortunate employees who has to read this) care, or understand what that Really means. It means I didn’t know what was happening to me until it literally exploded across my body. I didn’t know you were making changes to your product until the skin on my chest, under my arms and between my legs turned in half a day into burning, itchy skin that is so swollen with Tide rash there are no more pores. When I try some new product I try it in a focused way. For example, body lotion I’ll just try it on my hands and if they start burning or itching, the skin changes color I wash it off and don’t use it again. I don’t just put it all over my body and whatever happens, happens. What are you thinking? You can’t just put whatever you want in a product- like Benzisothiazolinone, which by the other reviews seems to be a problem - like you did over this past year to the “free

Some tips to get the best results with your Tide detergent are: be sure to not overload the washer, and to use the recommended amount of detergent for average water hardness, a little more in very hard water, a little less in very soft water. Also sort clothes by color and fabrics so that you can use the hottest water that is safe for the fabrics, and use the correct was cycle for the types of fabrics you are washing together. If you notice stains before washing, try pre-treating them.

I am such a fan of this tide detergent and will rave about it to anyone. I had initially put it on my baby registry about 8 months ago when my sister and some other family members with babies recommended it. (I was so lost in the world of babies - there are so many products out there and it can be incredibly stressful finding the “right” one). Before baby came, my husband and I decided it was just easier to collectively switch over to one detergent.
I am someone who gets excited over solid household “cleaning” products and this was no exception. Most importantly, it does it’s job, and then some. It gets the stains out of my baby‘s clothes in just one wash in addition to the less common but still very prevalent pet stains on my baby’s changing table pads, etc (thanks, Max). Even set in stains come out!! My husband also no longer gets these huge rashes on his back from the other detergent which is another huge win.
It’s a very affordable and gentle product and if you’re questioning it, just try it out and watch it change your life one wash at a time ;)

Never ordered liquid detergent from Amazon, all reviews were bad, leaked out, box full of liquid, etc.......I was anxious to get home and see the mess........mine was in box "sideways" , not standing up and everything was DRY, not a drip of liquid leaked out, NO dents or dings in plastic bottle & they used "The GRIPPER" to keep the lid closed shut & tight, and each packed in a box, inside a box, with padding which was air pods, no complaints at all, will order again, and when I ordered, there was an instant $3.00 off immediately coupon at check-out with NO catches, just an instant coupon on Amazon.

After trying 2 new detergents off the "Best 5 Laundry Detergents" list on FB, I came back to Tide. It's been around forever....because it works. Those fancy schmancy new scented detergent sheets and super concentrated organic powders just don't do the job Tide does. I returned them along with photos of my laundry that looked like it had not been washed at all (dog pee pads). Then I re-washed them in Tide and they came out CLEAN and white.

It really does seem to work well. It's Tide. We prefer less dyes and perfumes, wish more people did. The world is too scented.
However, I wish they would have better availability of it for the "eco box" variety. The packaging is *necessarily* wasteful, to be able to safely ship it. A thick plastic bottle in a heavy cardboard over box shipped inside another box. Unfortunately people still have had issues with the bottle spilling. The eco box just makes sense. A bag on a box. Less waste, ready to ship. Easy to use. It's just never in stock, or at similar pricing.

I can appreciate that they box and bag inside are recyclable, but there is a lot of waste, both when dispensing and disposing. you have to twist the nozzle open and close and as the box empties and there is no weight it becomes a three-handed operation - one to hold cup, one to twist nozzle and the third to hold the box steady. to recycle the detergent should be rinsed from the bag which is no easy task. not sure it is advantageous over the standard plastic as long as the plastic is recycled.

While the product works well, the first time the cap went through the washing machine, it broke into pieces. So not only do I not have a way to measure the detergent, I got to pick plastic out of my clothes. Other brands’ caps have been washed a dozen times or more without breaking.

Very heavy to lift and pour. Wanted the powder detergent I have always used but not available. It came in a recyclable cardboard container and now all I can get at that price is the liquid in a plastic container. This does not make any environmental sense! A price of over $100 was put on a box of powdered that used to be about $25!!

product is good but it was clearly leaking and about 1/2 cup of detergent was lost. It appears that the thin paper cushioning did not protect the items as well as the plastic bubble wrap has protected other items.

The product itself is great, the pump unit has a flaw in its design. The cup that you use to measure and pour the detergent into the washer will leak out if not completely empty. When I had a top-loader, I could just add the cup to the washer. Now that I have a front-loader, I doubt that's a good idea.
I've already poured most of this into old plastic Tide containers that are upright and have a design to collect any leftover detergent back into the bottle.

I Like Tide … I have used it for at least 58 years and my mom and grandma used it too. I like that they have the "free" choices now as I have allergies and asthma. Tide cleans everything perfectly no matter the color or type of material. I plan to keep right on using it.
I have a complaint about Amazon's packaging. The plastic bag they shipped it in was a big fail. It leaked all over everything. They need to tape the cap all the way around. Thank goodness the other items sent along with the Tide were also enclosed in plastic packaging.

I've been using this kind of Tide for quite awhile. Product is fine - works as I expect it to. But this is the first time I've purchased a bottle of liquid anything thru Amazon, and I won't do that again. It was well packed in a snug cardboard box, and bottle was wrapped in sealed plastic bag with a strip of tape across cap. Still, it leaked - tape was off-center; plastic bag had a hole; so leak drained out and saturated a large area of cardboard. A mess to clean up, a loss of product. Won't buy ANYTHING that's liquid thru Amazon or the mail ever again.

This was my first time ordering Tide. I'm an All free & clear user. But my new washer referenced Tide so I bought it.
The lid was not secured, so there was Tide all over the items in the packing box as well as soaked through the box itself. I put the Tide container in plastic and returned it. All has always arrived with tape securing the lid. I'm back to All.

We've been using tide pods for a few years. They worked great for smells and recent stains, however the plastic wouldn't fully melt and get stuck on clothes and it never removed any stain that wasn't less than a day old (even pretreated stains). SO, I figured we'd try the liquid. Stains are still there and clothes stink like they were never even washed.

This is the detergent I always use, and i love it. I ordered 4 bottles of it and three of them arrived dented and leaking. It was a big mess on my front porch. The bottles were just loose inside a big box, not packaged well. Then I had to return the bottles (I took them to Kohl's)! That was an even bigger mess. I had to wrap them in multiple layers of plastic bags. They still leaked onto the Amazon counter at Kohl's. I will not do this again.

Seller’s packaging, however, was completely inadequate/inappropriate. Items were packed in a box that was way to big, and the unwrapped plastic bottles ended up bouncing around and leaking detergent in and through the box. Awful.

Re: Order placed on 08-25-2016. I would like to leave a feedback on what the package looked like when it was delivered last night. The box was soiled and sticky. True enough when we opened the package, the items were a big mess! TheTide Free and Gentle High Efficiency liquid laundry Detergent,50 Ounce (Pack of 2) was poorly sealed that it leaked through the plastic and inside the box. At least 1/2 of the content of one of the Tide was spilled. The Oxiclean HD laundry detergent was not sealed in a plastic properly and wet too. It is good the cottonelle flushable wipes were in a separate box. However the box was soiled as well.

Container had leaked. Seller must have known it so placed it in a plastic bag before shipping in the cardboard box. It was then half empty when received. The 2nd Tide container was not leaky, had not been placed in a plastic bag, is full and is fine.

For me the primary reason for purchasing this product was as it was required for washing some of the protective clothing that I wear for motorcycle riding. Detergent causes itchy clothes that feel like someone put itching powder in my clothes.
Packaging is poor quality. Leaked all over the floor through the box and stripped our wood floor of protection and caused water damage.
It also doesn't seal the package well enough to prevent tampering. A person could easily open the package, pour in something unsavory, and reseal the packaging. And because there is no tamper seal on the bottles themselves, you would never be able to know.
Even acidic (citrus juices mixed in) trash juice leakage doesn't cause any damage after being left on the ground for a week.

How do you even get that IDEA that doing a commercial that mocks the harsh economic reality many Americans have been forced into is good, acceptable, or anything other than ridiculous gaff left over from the Romney campaign? Could you really not remove your heads from each other's sphincters long enough to realize that the odor was not, in fact, naturally occurring in your chosen environment but instead toxic waste that should have been aborted at conception. I mean honestly, while I would LOVE to see each and every person involved in the commercial appear on the Darwin Awards, do you really think that igniting whatever you were smoking in such a methane rich environment is a good idea?

Just fyi... its more expensive to buy the 3 pouches then the full 64oz. The 64 oz breaks down to $O.1925 (just over .19 cents per oz. The 3 pounches at 93oz comes out to $0.2149 (just over .21 cents per oz. So less waste to throw away and you're paying less for the big bottle. Stay away from the false lead here and stick with the 64oz bottle.

I've used this detergent for years because it cleans well, doesn't irritate our skin, and doesn't leave a residue in the washer or on the laundry. I selected the 5-pack because this size is hard to find in the grocery store and fits well in my washer pedestal. At checkout, I got a message I was over my limit and the cart was reduced to 4 bottles. Frankly, I thought the 5-pack might be in a factory box that would reduce the risk of bottles spilling in transit. I needn't have worried, the 4 bottles were well packaged and no leaking. I just wouldn't advertise a 5-pack if you aren't going to sell it. It's not like I would sell the 5th bottle on the black market. I do wish Tide would bring back the refill option. I saved my Tide bottle that fit the refill size. Loved those.

This fabric softener is a lifesaver, especially for someone with sensitive skin! Unlike regular softeners that have strong fragrances and artificial dyes, this one is gentle and free of harsh chemicals. I have NO problems with this detergent; it is perfect for me and my family as it is clear and gentle. The problem I have is with whom ever packages it for shipping... possibly Amazon! They repeatedly put it sideways in the outer shipping box. This causes the product to leak inside the box. This month, the leak got all over other items in the outer shipping box! The box that the Tide Free & Gentle Liquid Laundry Detergent comes in... has directional arrows CLEARLY marked on its box. I had actually never used this Free & Clear product before ordering the 4-pack, and rarely bought Tide brand in general because I felt it was over-priced. I had been buying all different detergents - from name brands to store brands to off-brand eco-friendly or sometimes whatever was on sale. Some cleaned better than others but I have to say this seems superior. I was surprised that even some old set-in stains lifted - and that was just with a normal wash (no soaking or rubbing this on the stains before washing). The more I use it, the more I think I won't need to buy pre-treaters (like Shout) anymore, nor will I need non-chlorine bleach.
I had no problems with the packaging or shipping - no damage or leaking.
I'm glad I tried this - and I'll definitely buy it again.

I grew up on cheap detergent so I never knew how my clothes could feel and look until I recently switched to Tide. Colors are brighter, clothes are softer and degrade less quickly. This detergent is a yellow liquid it is not free and clear more like free and yellow. The ALL free and clear is actually clear. I broke out in a rash with this detergent versus using ALL detergent. You can tell the difference.

I have sensitive skin and have to be careful which soaps I use. They quit making the generic brand that worked for me for years so I went to this one. Just from folding and putting away the laundry my hands swelled up and broke out in rashes. After wearing the clothes washed in this detergent the issue spread rapidly over the next few days to the point I could barely work or sleep. As soon as I went back to clothes and sheets washed in the prior detergent the issue started to recede. This stuff might work for others, but it was absolutely awful for me.

We used to think I was allergic to crabs and lobsters after a trip to Maryland when I was three because I broke out in hives while there, but a few decades later, we realized NO, my aunt just must've used a different detergent than my usual... WELP. Anyway, Tide free & gentle liquid detergent is one of my go to options for laundry. (The other is Nellie's unscented laundry soap powder, which I use for hand wash and / or wool items. It's available with scent, I just didn't want to risk it.)
Supposedly I can convert the bottle, once it's empty, to put used medical sharps in. Haven't finished a detergent bottle since starting the relevant medication, but that's the plan for now...

It's dye and scent free, and seems to get my laundry clean. BUT, the bottle shows that it's appropriate for high efficiency (he) machines, however, every time I use this, my machine leaks and soap foam spills out of every possible location of my washer. So I tested my machine by using some of of the same detergent bought from my local grocery store. That runs fine. No soap foam everywhere.
I suspect that someone is filling these bottles with something other than Tide Free & Gentle, and selling them on Amazon fraudulently.

The tide was excellent. Its yhe way it was packaged. The Tide spilled out all over the other items and even soaked though the box. I have a half a jug of Tide now.

We have a top-loading washer that specifies HE detergent. I wash four loads ever two weeks: (1-2) Cottons and blends (t-shirts, jeans, sweat-shirts, wool-blend socks in warm water, two loads; (3) Towels and sheets and cotton underwear in hot water; (4) Synthetics (mostly polyester shirts) and printed t-shirts in cold water.
Yes, I am a creature of habit!
I also react badly to perfumes, and I have eczema, so I try to use products that are kind to my skin and respiratory system. I do not get my clothes very dirty, although I do spill thongs on myself a little too often. But I wouldn't say that washing my clothes clean is a special challenge for a detergent.
I do have to use a spot-cleaner on stains, but otherwise this detergent does the job admirably. Everything gets clean, and after washing pretty much the same set of clothes the same way using this stuff for a couple of years, there is no indication that there's any build-up of dirt, or discoloration, or any other downside to its continued use.
So for me, I don't see how it could be any better.

I love the detergent, but the cap and pouring spout has been ruined. The detergent regularly gets stuck in the area under the spout, so when you go to pour it into the cap, the detergent spills everywhere :(

When our twin girls were born, we needed a detergent that would be gentle on their clothing and skin. Purchasing a "special" baby detergent like Dreft was not only expensive, but seemed unnecessary. We have been using Tide Free and Gentle since their birth, and also use it for our entire family's laundry. All stains, spills, odors are removed with one washing (that includes cloth diapers and my husband's stinky shirts!). The Amazon pricing is unbeatable - great product and great price. We will continue to purchase this product and highly recommend it.

I am scent sensitive and this product is totally scent free. I love that. It cleans the clothing well. I use less than the recommended amount and, without fail, the laundry comes out of the HE front load machine nice and clean and without any perfume smells. It is used with the gentle cycle as well as the heavy duty cycle with the same results. The bottle is easy to manage. My only comment would be around the inside ‘lip’ of the container; when you shake it before pouring, some of the liquid pools and (without fail) I end up with some on the floor when I pour. The spill is worth it for the product inside (and my floor gets a little bonus wash lol).

Product came as expected. HOWEVER, the lid wasn’t fully closed. Therefore, when the package arrived, some of the detergent spilled over and the bottle was a lot more empty than expected.

Not much more to say other than this literally smelled like paint when I got it. I obviously didn't actually try it since I didn't think it was a good idea to soak my clothes in something that smelled like paint. I have three roommates who all agreed it was off. I don't see an expiration date on the bottle or anything but I'm sure it's far past its prime. I'm not sure if they just grabbed this off some random shelf in a warehouse or what. I'm sure the actual product is fine. I'm writing this about four months after the fact so I can't return it, but I just wanted it to be known.

I have received a previous order of this item, which came with sealed and taped lids on both sides. No issue. I received this order, which was in a box soaked through and swimming in leaking detergent. After carefully opening and extracting the other items included with this order, I saw that the blue lid was unscrewed and detergent was flowing out of it. The other items were sealed tightly and were a mess on the outside, but no content damage. Needless to say, I had to throw the mess away.

Tide Free and Gentle are great especially for those of us who are allergic to fragrance. There was scented Tide on one of my bottles Free and Gentle which I had to throw out. They used tape that was so tight it left goo and pieces of tape on the bottles. They have special tape that doesn't peel off, will hold and come right off for shipping I guess they haven't figured that out yet. In the end it cost me $32.00 for 2 bottles.

Brought two - One leaked terribly and another one was okay so a 50/50 chance. The root cause of leaking is really a cost saving move by using only one special made tape to keep the detergent cap secure. They should use more tapes to keep the cap in place.

I have subscribe and save for alot of household items. This Tide being a weekly thing, but it keeps getting delivered with no seal or sticker and it leaks all over. I hadn't tried Tide Free and Gentle before, I had been using Arm and Hammer in small plastic packages, but not available.
PROS:
NO SCENT - this is HUGE and would be a deal breaker if it was scented. I don't detect a scent.
SENSITIVE - works for my sensitive skin
CLEAN - My clothes seem fresh and clean (I don't really get dirty, I'm inside a lot, so I can't speak to getting really dirty, muddy, sweaty clothes clean)
PACKAGING - OK, HERE I was concerned, because I ordered a different brand in the past, twice, in a bottle and both time, it leaked. THIS came perfectly intact and was well-packaged.
PRICE - Just for me, so I find it cost effective.
BOTTOMLINE: Checks off all the boxes for me - no scent, for sensitive skin, gets my clothes clean and the price is good.

I used this in conjunction with Downy Rinse & Refresh (unscented), Lysol Laundry Sanitizer (unscented), and baking soda & vinegar. They got the odors out magnificently. It truly is unscented. The only problem is the bottle came dented, which when my Lysol Laundry Sanitizer came dented, it damaged the bottle and leaks, so I'm lucky this doesn't. My bed sheets feel and smell the cleanest and freshest they have in a very long time.

The outer box and the two inner boxes were undamaged, but both bottles had a bad crease in them almost to point of causing them to leak. This had to be done prior to putting them in the boxes. This has been a great, odorless detergent, and we have successfully ordered it a few times from Amazon. However, our last order, for two bottles, came damaged (the box was soaking with soap and one of the bottles was partially crushed). We thought it would socially responsible to use up what was left, rather than return it. However, a few weeks in, we discovered the detergent in the partially crushed bottle was nauseatingly STINKY and CLOUDY, and I'm now realizing the same is starting to happen to the second bottle. I am sensitive to fragrance in products, like detergents and trash bags. It's hard to find items without added fragrance sometimes and using products with fragrance with usually trigger a headache for me. I also have sensitive skin. I've been using the Free and Gentle for Downy and Tide for years and haven't looked back. My clothes get clean, there's no weird residue, no bad odors are left behind and no issues with sensitive skin. I will say that if I have any clothes that have very strong odors from my husband or the kids exercising, I usually need to use some Tide sport or something to get the musty smell out of those but otherwise the free and gentle does the job.

I’m glad Tide brought back their hygienic detergent line (but rebranded)! The stain removal is top notch, as well as its cleaning properties (a little goes a long way!). This TIDE leaves no residue, no odor, yet cleans our clothes better than any detergent I've ever used. The dispersing cap is the absolute best! It was good for almost a year, or about 3/4 of the bottle. It spontaneously developed a horrible odor (previously had no scent for the less than one year I was using it) that was extremely unpleasant and strong. I noticed it immediately upon opening the cap today. Needless to say, I did not use it for my laundry today. Not sure what went wrong. The shelf life for these bottles is supposed to be minimum 15 months. It was also always stored in my basement which has a cool temperature year-round and doesn't get any sunlight.

Smaller bottles you can store the cap you add the detergent with on the bottle and is designed so the leftover detergent flows back into the bottle. Nothing like that on this bottle. I guess if you have a system already in place in your laundry room it's easier to prevent messes of this nature.

As one who is extremely sensitive to perfumes and dyes, I am very happy that more and more manufacturers are selling products that are "Free". For years I have been faithfully purchasing the All Free & Clear brand, but the online price for Tide has been too good to pass up so I gave it a shot. Tide works just as well as All and it also has no discernable scent and causes no skin reactions for my family. I appreciate that they offer a four pack of 100 oz bottles as I do my best to buy the largest bottles so that I'm sending less to the landfill. Even at this large size, the bottle is easy to lift and pour. It would be nice, however, if they redesigned the bottle cap so as to not "trick" people in to using twice as much detergent as necessary. I have to remind my husband when he does decide to help with the laundry to NOT fill the cap to the top. The line marking for the biggest load only comes up to the halfway mark on the cap. Other than the cap design/markings, everything else about this product is great and I will be purchasing again.

so the measuring cap is translucent and clear, no color. and the detergent liquid is translucent/clear. And my laundry machines are white, with white wall. Its so hard to measure the detergent in the measuring cap. Just saying

I have very sensitive skin, and I love the fact that it has no scent, and it cuts through dirt and really does clean my clothes. Despite its wonderful attributes, for an HE soap, it does produce a lot of suds, especially with towels. I have a European HE front loader and I'm careful to never use more than a tablespoon or two (well below the #1 line on the cap). Every time I wash towels, it over produces suds, and I have to run them through again with no soap, and an extra rinse cycle. Additionally, I've noticed some fading on my dark clothes, but that might be due to the fact that I also add an extra rinse cycle because of the suds.
Overall, great product, although if it were more biodegradable, I would feel less guilty about using it so often.

I just hold the cap under the spout and hold the button until I have the amount I want. I use a cap saved from a previous container and toss it into the washing machine along with the dirty clothes

I'm simply a Tide user, for years. I recently started using this one because of my sensitive, dry skin. I can't tell if it's helping with that issue but probably less harsh than regular Tide. It smells like laundry soap and is clear. It cleans as well as regular Tide however, I tend to think I need to add more to a load. I don't have the science on that thought but a half a cap-ful does a large load of man clothes just fine.

The laundry soap arrived on time; all looked well, until I opened the box, to find another box inside, that was saturated in sticky soap to the point it went through the 2nd box, the product itself's cap wasn't securely on container. Which left only a half full of laundry soap. only adding to the mess.

We use Tide Free and Gentle for our cloth diapers. This detergent is great for those with super sensitive skin or for cloth diaper users. I never need to use more than the cap says and my cloth diapers come out clean and (relatively) unstained.

I have used this Tide before, but this bottle is diluted or substandard. Just like many buyers, my Tide leaked inside the box. I had to use a full cap of detergent to get just a little suds and then add a little more. I have used Tide for many years and did not have this problem with the prior bottles of Tide. When I sent my first reply, Amazon told me to contact Tide. Amazon did not provide any support and did not list my reply on their site.

I’ve used Tide Free & Gentle for years because it works well and doesn’t irritate sensitive skin. Unfortunately, the redesigned dispenser is a textbook example of fixing something that was never broken.
The old system was simple and smart: you poured detergent into the measuring cup, and when you set the cup back on the bottle, any excess flowed neatly back inside. No mess, no waste, no sticky hands.
Now? That logic is gone.
With the new design, the measuring cup traps leftover detergent, and instead of draining back into the bottle, you’re forced to screw the soapy cup back on. That means drips, residue buildup, and a sticky bottle every time you do laundry. It’s less hygienic, less convenient, and frankly feels like a step backward in basic usability.
This isn’t a small nitpick. Detergent design should prioritize cleanliness and ease of use—especially for a product marketed to families and people with sensitivities. Many users have already complained online about Tide’s recent packaging changes being messy or poorly thought out, and this dispenser seems to confirm that trend.
The detergent itself is still good. The dispenser is not.
Who approved this design? And more importantly—did anyone actually try using it in a real laundry room before rolling it out?
Bottom line: excellent product, frustrating packaging. Please bring back the old cup design—or at least one that lets excess detergent drain back where it belongs.

I have very sensitive skin and tend to break out with other detergents. I have never broken out with this detergent. It is great for washing my infant daughter's clothes as well and much cheaper than the other infant washes. My daughter's pediatrician told me this is actually better to use for her than other detergents since it is completely free of dyes and perfumes. It washes clothes just as well as other detergents and I have never had any problems with spots or streaks on dark clothes like another user had reported. The price on Amazon is the best I've seen, especially with the subscribe and save discount.
As a side note regarding the size: When you buy the large container that has the spicket, be warned that it has a tendency to leak. I'd recommend buying the smaller size in bulk so that you don't have to deal with a messy detergent leak.

Works well, as you'd expect from a major label like Tide. Not much to say other than it is indeed free of dyes and scents. If you are like me and artificial scents just seem like offensive chemical wall of stench, then this soap is perfect.
There are still so many cleaner categories that don't yet have a scent-free option so I hope this catches on.

I've been using this product via subscription for several months, but the most recent delivery seemed a bit off.
I compared the label against the product description and found that the amount was 132 FL OZ. The product description and my previous containers indicated 146 FL OZ.
BOTH containers claim "4+ months" and "100 loads."
While I've been very happy with the product overall, this instance of "shrinkflation" has prompted me to cancel my subscription and search for a comparable product.
Procter & Gamble could have reduced costs elsewhere instead of deceptively passing it onto consumers. Additionally, Amazon should have updated the product description and notified subscription customers. Instead, I had to notice the discrepancy myself and now have to return the bottle and spend time shopping for another product.

I've ordered this item a handful of times over the past year and had no problems getting the two 50 oz containers as mentioned in the product description. I'm guessing that was a past issue that has now been corrected.
As an eczema sufferer, this laundry detergent is perfect for me. If you're looking for something that works well for sensitive skin and does not cause irritation, this should work for you. It is not strongly scented, so if you're looking for scented laundry, this is not the detergent for you.
I also like that this is made for the high-efficiency washing machines. I am not sure what the difference in formula is, but I was told that I would void the warranty on my washing machine if I did not use detergent labeled with the HE symbol, so I'm glad to see this Free & Gentle in the HE formula.

My son has very sensitive skin and I cannot use the HE formula. I am having a very hard time finding the regular formula. When I saw this image, it did not show The HE image. The HE is not listed in the name of the item. And in the description it did not say that it could be used in high efficiency machines. All of these factors made me think this was the correct product. But when it arrived it was clearly marked and labeled as HE. I just noticed this same complaint by another reviewer back on March. I was the listing could be corrected. My hunt for the regular formula continues!
